Hi Data Geek.

As usual, I’m trying to provide more value with less words and jargon, and this post won’t be the exception of the rule.

This week’s advice in short form? Apply for a Data role at Abnormal Security.

The long answer? Let’s find out below.

Why Abnormal Security? Human touch + A.I + access to a ton of capital + Operation Excellence in a single package

If you are inside the tech world, you perhaps heard the news today, but if you are not, let me give you a short summary about it.

Abnormal Security, a company based in San Francisco, California; provides total protection against the widest range of email attacks including phishing, malware, ransomware, social engineering, executive impersonation, supply chain compromise, internal account compromise, spam, and graymail.

And today, they just raised its series D of $250 Million for a valuation of $5.1 Billion.

But if you have followed my work for a little, you know I’m not a big fan of valuations.

For me, the most important metrics are the Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and Net Dollar Retention (NDR), especially in the Software as a Service sector.

Note: If you don’t know about ARR and NDR metrics, in the final part of this post, you will find favorite resources about them.

Why? Because these numbers are great indicators of the health of the business in the tech world.

Of course, I’m not a Venture Capitalist, but I love to think like one when I do research for a particular company.

Let’s find out these numbers in the case of Abnormal Security.
